GETTING INVOLVED

How you can help:

Our ability to provide quality care to the children in our homes is directly linked to the skills and commitment of our volunteers. We’ve listed some of the possibilities but if God is leading you in a new and innovative way, we would be glad to speak to you. We ask that you pray and decide where the Lord is leading you to serve with 4KIDS.

Our volunteers are an important part of this ministry; they allow us to be able to expend our resources more efficiently, thus providing better service to our foster parents and the children in their homes.

•  Foster Parent

•  Child/youth worker volunteer

•  Mentor/tutor volunteer

•  Office/Administrative support volunteer
•  Special Events Committee

•  Crisis pregnancy program volunteer

•  Financial supporter

Foster Parent:

At the very heart of 4KIDS are the couples and singles willing to open their heart and their home to a child in need of love, stability and hope. Placements can be from several days to several months. The foster child may range from a few days old or be in their teens.

There are many reasons people fail to act on the knowledge that God has called them to be foster parents. Some concerns are legitimate, while others stem from a misunderstanding of the process. We would welcome the chance to address your concerns and answer your questions honestly.

If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, please click here or call: Joan Englert at 954-556-4685.

Child/Youth Worker Volunteer:

The Volunteer Child & Youth Worker is responsible for direct care service to children 0-17 who are admitted to our programs.  This person will facilitate the provision of needed physical services to achieve stability in the children being served.  Some duties include shopping, cooking, interacting with children.

Mentor/Tutor Volunteer:

A mentor/tutor provides a listening ear and encouraging words to the children and youth in our care. We ask that you be available for a one on one interaction once a week. You may be asked to help with everything from homework to facing life’s challenges.

Office Support Volunteer:

The Office support volunteer is responsible for daily office management, as well as identified administrative tasks. Duties may include: copying, filing, making phone calls, assist in mailings, inputting information into excel and organizing office and donated items.

Special Event Team Member:

The Special Events Team Member will have the opportunity to serve in any of our major/minor events throughout the year including galas, luncheons, auctions, golf tournaments, BiG Cardio & 5K and more. Some key areas include event preparation and office work, community/church promotions and marketing, sponsorship administrator, event day tasks, concessions, set-up/breakdown, etc.

Crisis Pregnancy Program Volunteer (His Caring Place)

His Caring Place is a licensed teen maternity program that offers love and guidance to young women struggling with crisis pregnancies. For more information on ways that you can help Click here.

The next step:

If you are interested in volunteering at 4KIDS of South Florida, please complete the Volunteer Form.  If you have any questions contact us here via email: Stephanie Gunderson  or 954-556-4693.

The nature of this ministry requires that we ask that all volunteers go through the same background checks as our foster parents. If you have questions or concerns about this process, please contact us. Once you’ve been matched with a ministry area, we will offer you specialized training and support for that specific volunteer area.

We recognize that the decision to be a part of this ministry requires prayer and a special calling that only the Lord places on your heart. At 4KIDS we believe in providing Permanent Solutions for the foster care crisis in our community... by taking this next step in working with us you are one part of that solution. We know that one can make a difference… "Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute." Psalm 82:3
