On October 9, we rolled out the red carpet, set the stage, and fired up the spotlight. The Delray Beach Marriott ballroom was at capacity, and Chandra Bill, former Channel 5 news anchor, WPTV, was set to begin. People had come from all over Broward and Palm Beach counties for this year’s 4KIDS Fall Gala, “Celebrating Real Heroes.”
• Tamara Wilson was given the “Hero Award” for the many hours she has volunteered at SafePlace for the past 4 years.
• CeCe Herrero, former foster child, was given the “Foster Care Hero Award” for transforming her life. She now gives back every day as a staff member at 4KIDS.
• Christ Church, Ft. Lauderdale, received the “His Caring Place Hero Award” for its contributions to the construction of the HCP Miracle Home Makeover. Pastor Alex Shanks accepted the award on behalf of the church.
• Doug and Zoe Scott received a “Hero Award” for opening up their home and hearts as a Safe Family.
• Sherry Praed received the “SOSI Hero Award” for faithfully preparing meals, baking birthday cakes, and being part of our independent living family for several years.
These are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. They have done it consistently, sacrificially, and often without recognition. We are so grateful to all of them.
We are also grateful for the guests who chose to attend, the many volunteers who gave of their personal time to ensure the success of our event, for those that prayed hearts would be touched, and for our sponsors.
